 Santiago Solines

Santiago Solines Moreno is a partner at Solines & Asociados Abogados and coordinator of the firm’s Corporate Law and M&A Department, as well as its Energy Law Department.

He has a master’s degree in Political Communication and Governance from The George Washington University (GWU), a Master’s in Energy Law and Business from the Villanueva University (attached to the U Complutense de Madrid), in addition to having studied a Master’s degree in Government and Public Administration from the Menéndez Pelayo International University and the Ortega & Gasset University Institute.

In Ecuador, he has completed postgraduate studies in Good Corporate Government, Governance at the IDE Business School (School of Government), open courses in Urban Planning at FLACSO, and completed the training course for mediators of the Chamber of Commerce of Quito CCO, in addition to currently studying the Higher Education Program in International Arbitration at the Royal University Institute of European Studies CEU, CIAMEN and CIArb.

In his professional life, he has specialized in different areas of law, including energy, corporate, trade, compliance, and negotiation, with a wide range of experience in some of the country’s most emblematic mergers and acquisitions (M&A); as well as in creating holdings, consortia, and other types of conglomerates and associations, in addition to promoting online legal products to support ventures and start-ups. As to international collaborations, since 2013 he has been one of the Ecuadorian experts collaborating on the “Rule of Law Index” annual report, part of the World Justice Project (WJP), an indicator for the Transparency International annual report. He has also collaborated as foreign lawyer at the Head of International Energy Affairs at the National Commission for Markets and Competition CNMC in Madrid, Spain.

Turning to national and international organizations, in recent years he has presided the World Compliance Association (WCA) Ecuador Chapter, is Vice President and Director of the Ecuadorian Canadian Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the World Law Foundation board of directors (WLF) and is part of the World Jurist Association (WJA).

In the political sphere, he has held important public positions in the Ministry of Government (Vice Minister of Government and Advisor to the Minister of Government.)
